Growing Micronutrient Opportunities in the Asia-Pacific Region
At the recent IFA Crossroads Asia-Pacific 2007 Conference held in Bali, Indonesia between 17 -19 December, Dr Kevin Moran was invited to make a presentation on micronutrients in the region during the Agronomic Workshop 'Balanced Fertilization in Asia: Where are we?'
The presentation entitled 'Micronutrients: Beyond Crossroads – On the Highway' covered the key micronutrients; their role and importance in balanced fertilization in particular with regard to N, P and K; their increasing occurrence in the region caused by soil-depletion and nutrient–mining; and finally solutions using YaraVita™ product treatments to increase crop yield and quality.
'The response to the presentation and the information it contained was quite remarkable'… says Kevin…'like a series of light-bulbs coming on, one by one, over delegates heads all around the room as the message began to hit home that micronutrients had been seriously neglected throughout this massive and rapidly developing agricultural region'.
Kevin continues…'It was very gratifying to see this reaction to the presentation and to receive yet more positive feed-back from delegates at the Evening Dinner and Cultural Show, sponsored by the Indonesian Fertilizer Producers' Association (APPI), which was also enjoyed by Yara colleagues Terje Knutsen and Chrystel Monthean, amongst others, from the Asia-Pacific Team'.
