Solatrel Shows its Pedigree

Foliar applications of phosphate and other critical nutrients for the potato crop during early bulking have consistently produced treatment responses in Yara Phosyn research for well over 20 years. The data generated in replicated field trials conducted all over the world include an impressive set of marketable ware yield responses, which may be viewed on the Yara Phosyn Intranet in the Trials Information section.

The experience and knowledge gained over this time was put to good use when the innovative crop composite product, Solatrel, was formulated specifically to help meet the nutritional requirements of potatoes wherever they are grown. Solatrel contains a good balance of major, secondary and micronutrients;

440 g/l phosphate (P205);
75 g/l potash (K20);
40 g/l magnesium (Mg);
10 g/l calcium (Ca);
10 g/l manganese (Mn);
5 g/l zinc (Zn).

The recommended single application rate for Solatrel is 10 l/ha.

Solatrel was first trialled in 2001 with excellent tuber yield responses in Holland. Since then, Solatrel has continued to produce marketable ware increases from Canada to Poland.

And success has led to success as in the 2006 season, Solatrel was trialled by the independent contractor NDSM (UK) on behalf of the Scottish Distributor, CSC, with field trial plots at the "Potatoes in Practice" event near Invergowrie, Tayside, Scotland.

Solatrel applied at the 10 l/ha rate on 12th July when the Saxon variety test crop was at the early bulking stage produced a 13.2% increase in marketable (45 to 80 mm sized tubers) ware yield.

The marketable ware yield from the untreated control plots was 57.4 t/ha but the Solatrel treatment elevated marketable ware yield to 64.9 t/ha, an increase of 7.5 t/ha.

This represents a considerable return on investment, particularly in view of burgeoning UK potato prices.

Solatrel has shown its pedigree yet again.

So don´t miss out on this excellent profit opportunity for your growers and businesses in 2007!
