Hat trick of Queen´s Awards for Phosyn
Phosyn plc has won the 2006 Queen´s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category. This is the third time Phosyn has received a prestigious Queen´s Award, putting them among an elite group of successful UK businesses.
Established in 1967, Phosyn manufactures plant nutrient products for foliar application and seed treatment whilst providing analytical services to agriculture worldwide. In 2004, its export sales accounted for 90% of output. At the same time, the Company maintained its leading position in the home market.
A delighted Chairman, Dr. Geoff Adams states,
"Phosyn first started exporting into Europe and North Africa, then in order to counter seasonality, developed business in Australasia, Southern Africa, and South America. Phosyn today is truly a global enterprise exporting to around 60 countries, which enables our production facilities to remain active all year round".
Phosyn´s success is built upon a scientific approach that identifies the specific nutritional needs of crops under many different agricultural systems, ranging from broadacre cropping to centre pivot technology under desert conditions.
Dr. Adams continues
"The company plays an important role in assisting growers in all parts of the world to improve their food production yield and quality, providing advice for a whole range of crops from barley to bananas and from potatoes to kiwi fruit. And crucially, our staff have the ability to understand thoroughly and respond effectively to differing forms of agriculture and cultures in many markets. Phosyn ´know-how´ is also helping Third-World countries improve the yields and quality of their own food production".
The company is soon to be part of Yara International ASA (a company which is globally recognised as the most international player in the fertiliser industry) and together with their alliance partners will provide a complete package of technical services and products to satisfy all facets of plant nutrition requirements.
Phosyn will be presented with the Queen´s Award by the Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire, the Honourable Mrs. Elizabeth Susan Cunliffe-Lister at a celebration to be enjoyed by representatives from the company, customers, suppliers, other guests and members of staff.
