Phosyn at the International Cherry Symposium
The International Cherry Symposium is held every five years and this year it was in Turkey - now the world´s largest exporter of fresh sweet cherries.
Following from Phosyn´s developing a close relationship with the premier cherry producer, Alara, we were pleased to be invited to be involved with the symposium.
Growers, buyers, advisors and scientists from around the globe were in attendance - making this the premier gathering for the cherry industry.
Part of the idea of involvement was to raise awareness of Phosyn within the industry - so to highlight our approach and the benefits of Phosyn inputs; product, analysis and advice. Unprompted comments from international delegates indicated that Phosyn has been very successful already with cherries...
Growers from Norway were in attendance. "We use Bortrac and Stopit"
Growers from Poland were in attendance. "Thank you for the Seniphos - we use it on our cherries. Very good"
Growers from Australia were in attendance. "Good to see Phosyn. Your products are great - we use them every year. And please pass our best regards to John Brooks"
Growers from USA were in attendance. "We are pleased with Phosyn products on cherries"
Growers from South Africa were in attendance. "Please pass on our best regards to Heather and Phil - we know them well from all their hard work in the field" (A true quote - not in any way sponsored by the Raymonds - Ed)
Researchers from the Middle East. "Our best wishes to Robert Parkinson - we were really pleased with Stopit."
The fact that our reputation has gone before us around the globe is a great credit to all - and marked Phosyn out in the symposium.
In the meantime we continue to develop our relationship with Alara in Turkey - with plans for their 300 ha orchard, "Rio Alara", in South America. In 2005 Alara Turkey produced 10,000 tonnes of cherries from both their own orchards and from up to 3,000 small scale outgrowers whom they advise. In 2006 their plan is to use Phosyn products not only to treat Alara´s own orchards - but also to start on their outgrowers´ orchards too.
And the next Cherry Symposium? In Chile in 2010. Watch this space...
