Stone Fruit Workshop
The second crop workshop of 2005 was held earlier this month, this time in Murcia, Spain. As usual delegates came from all around the globe to share their knowledge in the Stone Fruit sector. Adam Richardson and Juan Leiva representing the Phosyn team attended providing support to the hosts Yara Iberia.
Similar to previous workshops, the week was split up into a variety of events over 4 days including field visits, technical and country based seminars and visits to processing and packaging units. This gave an extremely balanced view of the stone fruit sector within Spain.
The Stone Fruit workshop was extremely useful in terms of increasing awareness of the key nutrients and the importance of certain nutrients essential for optimal yield and quality in each cultivar. The workshop raised the awareness of how useful post harvest applications are within the sector, and which nutrients, and application rates gave the best results. Quality as expected was high on the agenda and the workshop yet again illustrated that balanced nutrition was the key to producing an excellent product at harvest.
As the workshop concluded on the Thursday afternoon it was obvious it had been a great success with all delegates benefiting from each others experience and providing the basis for the next Plant Master booklet. Many thanks must go to Barry Bull and the entire Yara Iberian team for their efforts in organising the event.
