Viva Espana!
The Yara Iberian team has a diverse knowledge base and an amazing amount of enthusiasm for the Phosyn products and currently the majority of the work is visiting the new distributors in Spain and raising awareness of the Hydroplus products within key sectors.
One of the most interesting areas of work being in Almeria, and many thanks must go to Alboran Agricola for their support and help in making extensive trials in the glasshouse sector on three key crop areas we are wishing to target. Almeria is a cropping area I consider to be significant to the Phosyn business in the future years, roughly around 33,000 ha. Grower talks have been held on a variety of crops from olives to citrus and many more are planned in the months ahead.
However Spain has been experiencing a difficult season this year and the weather has caused significant damage to a variety of key crops. Extreme cold and now drought conditions!! One of the largest effected crops areas has to be the olive crop in Andalucia as they experienced 3 days of 15 degrees below freezing, which has caused extensive damage to many of the lower altitude olive plantations. Yara have created marketing literature, trying to increase the nutritional inputs in this sector as means of a recovery strategy, but sales will undoubtedly be affected by the freak cold spell.

These pictures show a healthy olive tree (left) and an unhealthy one (right).
All in all, the Yara team are all embracing the new range of products and are keen to develop this key area of the Iberian business. Therefore I have every confidence in the team and am hoping we will make a significant sales impact this year.
