20 years of Annual Soil Surveys in the Libyan Desert
The 20th Libyan Soil Survey Compendium, based on the soil and water samples taken from desert production projects in May, has just been completed. The characteristics and nutritional content of the soils and waters are discussed along with suggestions for agricultural inputs and management to help towards successful future cropping.
Analysis and technical reports have always been a fundamental part of business in Libya, right from the very first days some 27 years ago. The first formal Libyan Soil Survey Compendium was produced in 1984 and during the subsequent two decades it evolved into what can be seen today.
An additional mid season report was first produced in 1989 and still continues today. This mid season report, produced in February each year, adds valuable leaf analysis results to compliment the soil and water data. The results of soil, leaf and water analysis can be linked together to offer a more complete picture to assist the customer as well as being an added value service from ourselves following the infield visits.
The 2004 Libyan Soil Survey Compendium contains the analytical results and comments for a record number of agricultural projects, 13 in all. This highlights the trend for the growth of new agricultural projects in Libya, and that the added value of analysis means Phosyn develops into any new evolving farm project.
