Chinese Film Crew Visits Phosyn HQ
From the 2nd to the 6th of October, Sinda Development Ltd visited Phosyn Head Office at Pocklington. As Phosyn plc´s representatives in China, Sinda coordinated the three week UK visit with the obective of producing a documentary on British Agriculture in conjunction with Guangdong Provincial Television.
Guangdong province is located in Southern China, with Guangzhou as the provincial capital:
Guangdong has a population of 70 million and the province´s staple food is rice. Cash crops sugarcane, peanuts, fruits, vegetables, flowers and tea are also produced in the province. Due to rapid industrialisation and urbanisation in the past 10 years, arable land in Guangdong has decreased by 30% while the province´s population has increased by 12 million. The solution to feed a growing population on decreasing land resources has been to develop the "Three High" agricultural programme: High Yield, High Quality and High Efficiency (launched in 1990).
During the week with Phosyn all aspects of the company were covered including product formulation, manufacturing facilities, agronomy glasshouse, analytical laboratory and the company´s information technology and biometrics programmes. All agreed on the success of the visit to Phosyn´ Head Office before the group set off for England´s Garden (also known as Kent). Phosyn´s fruit specialists Derek Green and Mike Stoker led the visitors on tours of apple, pear, strawberry and vegetable farm operations.
