“Stock condition has improved since using Grasstrac”
Dan Holland - Co. Cork

Farm Profile
Dan has a typical West Cork dairy farm of 100 acres of grass on medium soil.

The Stock
His 70 Holstein Friesians calve from mid-January until the end of March, giving an average yield of 1300 gallons (5900 litres). Because he is near the sea, turnout is very early at the end of January and grazing continues until the end of November. Strip grazing is practised on long-term leys.

The Problem
With a very high proportion of milk being produced from grass, Dan felt that Grasstrac would be a good way to improve the trace element content of his swards. 40 acres of spring grazing have been treated for the last 3 years.

The Grasstrac Experience
“There’s no doubt that the condition and productivity of the stock have gradually improved over the 3 years of Grasstrac use,” says Dan, “and I’m more than satisfied with the product.”
